Abstract.
Nowadays, the world "neoloberalism" is currently employed. Yet, no consensus
exists neither on its definition nor on its theoretical foundations. It seems
consequently important to start a reflexion in this direction, in order to define in a
clearer way what is often described as a coherent thought. Within this framework, the
works of some classical liberals and of the founders of the "neoliberalism"
will be used. The study of some aspects of those writtings leads to the conclusion
that if the neoliberalism is indeed a coherent thought, it has not many links with the
classical liberalism, and represents a good illustration of a monist theory, made up
on the basis of a restrictive conception of the liberty.
